Totara Rd Sewer Treatment Plant

Work at the Totara Rd Sewer Treatment Plant was a combined effort between Tararua Roading and United Contracting. TRL did the earthworks while UC were on building detail.
Retirements
Jerry Te Wake retired in May, and a rousing retirement party was held at the Awapuni Race Course. Brian Peters retired on 5th November after 15 years service, and George Withey will be retiring at Christmas, after 12 years service.
Congratulations
Shane Edwards and Leah had baby boy Leighton back in February. Oke Karena and Nicola had a girl Anirira on the 9th October. Eion Cameron and Anita recently welcomed Joshua, born 26th October.
Farewells
Debbie Littley will be leaving at the end of January to go to Teachers College. Debbie Walsh will be taking maternity leave in February, good luck to you both!
Promotions
Dave Morgan has been promoted from Foreman to Contract Supervisor. He is currently supervising the Assets and Services team. Joe Pene is the Dannevirke Sewer Treatment Plant technician.

Oringi Passing Lane Site

The twins work on culverts at the Oringi Passing Lane site. The work started in April and should be finished before Christmas. Staff have been sourced from CHB Works, Infracon Aggregates as well as Tararua Roading. Contract manager Robert Holmes said that on the site employees have numbered 15 plus daily.
Marton Site
  
Work has being going on at the Marton site since May and due to terrible weather conditions completion will occur end of January.
Social Activities
Tararua Roadkill: Over the past 6 months some of the office staff have been involved in an indoor netball team, with more wins than losses!
Bush Senior Thirds: Scotty Williams' team were unfortunately beaten in their semi-final round, but have had a good season by all accounts.
Tommo "Tiger" Thomson and team won the prestigious Lachlan Cup against 32 teams from the Wellington Region in September at the Paraparaumu Golf Club.
Management Activities
Phil Stephenson must have thought he was in a different industry during the February floods - he managed to submerge his car, the "blue submarine", while driving through what he thought was a puddle. Turned out to be a little deeper than that! |
